Maryam Library Foundation bringing the Joy of Reading to GHPS School, Avaragola
We at the Maryam Library Foundation believe that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves access to the transformative power of books and education. Our latest project takes us to the heart of Avaragola, a village in Hukkeri taluk, Belagavi district, Karnataka, where we are thrilled to announce the upcoming construction of a brand-new library at Government Higher Primary School.
A Glimpse into the School
The School is home to 296 bright and eager students, ranging from grades 1 to 7. These students, taught by eight dedicated teachers, are learning and growing within the rich tradition of the Kannada language and culture. Thanks to the generosity of OSAAT, the school already boasts three classrooms and a toilet block, constructed in 2021. The school originally had a small collection of 500 books housed within the school, allowing students to borrow one book per week.
Library Project
Maryam Library Foundation, in collaboration with OSAAT, is thrilled to announce the construction of a brand new library for the Government Model Higher Primary School!. Our goal was to transform the way reading and learning are experienced at GHPS. We created a dedicated library space, separate from the existing classrooms, to foster a peaceful and inviting environment for exploration. This new library is filled with:
A diverse collection of books: We carefully curated a collection of Kannada-language books that spark imagination, encourage curiosity, and cater to a wide range of reading levels.
Comfortable reading areas: Students have cozy nooks and tables where they can lose themselves in their favorite stories.
Educational resources: We provided materials that support the school's curriculum and encourage independent learning.
Why GHPS Avaragola?
We chose GHPS Avaragola because we believe in the power of education to uplift communities. By investing in a library, we are not only providing access to books but also fostering a love of learning that will benefit the students for years to come.
