Meet Numaa Raza, our Young Student Voluneer Making a Difference

Numaa Raza, a fifth-grader at Gussie Baker Elementary School, exudes a passion for helping others that is both infectious and inspiring. She demonstrated an unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others when she worked with her brother by finalizing boards for the fundraiser. She's great at telling stories, writing, and art, showcasing her creativity and imagination at every opportunity. Plus, she's a bookworm who believes reading can improve lives. She believes in the power of reading as a beacon of hope and empowerment for all.

When Numaa heard about the Maryam Library Foundation's mission to build libraries in underserved communities, she wanted to be part of the effort as it would give her an opportunity to help. She found out more details about the efforts and started reaching out to her teachers to collect books for donation from her school and to the neighbors within her community. As part of this effort, she collected and sorted the books and packed them in boxes that were being prepared to be shipped to the kids from underprivileged communities. Besides collecting books, she understood that to support this effort, the organization would also need financial support to achieve this goal, so she and her brother organized a fundraiser. As part of this effort, she utilized her creativity and resourcefulness by creating boards explaining the foundation's efforts and raising awareness about the importance of education to children, irrespective of their background.

Numaa plans to continue to be involved with Maryam Library Foundations in their efforts to support underserved communities by providing access to educational opportunities through the power of reading.
